#VIRTUA FIGHTER 5PS3 PLUS#
All the old moves from previous versions are here, plus a whole bunch of new moves. These buttons have to be pushed at the same times, sometimes, leading to situations where you find your hand twisting around to push the buttons right, but overall it’s a solid fighting game. The game is played with three buttons, guard, kick, and punch. Even that still requires someone else that knows the Virtua Fighter line to fight against, because of the high learning curve. The only options for playing against another person are the aforementioned versus mode. Since playing against the computer is fun, but isn’t at all like playing against people, it would have been nice for there to be an online mode, but there is none included at all. Generally, though, the illusion is pretty thin, and it’s obvious that they are computers the entire time you play them. These players are supposed to resemble real-life players, since the characters have records of wins and losses, upgraded clothes, and have rankings. This allows you to travel to arcades and fight AI players. There is a mode called "TV" which lets you select any two fighters and have the AI battle it out on screen. There’s versus for playing locally, and a dojo section that lets you practice the complicated moves. The first is the arcade mode, which puts you up against a boss character and keeps track of your score as you fight them. The gameplay in Virtua Fighter 5 is divided into many different styles. If you’re a big fan of the series and have followed it faithfully over the years, then it will likely make a lot of sense to you, and you’ll be able to jump right in an enjoy it. There is a significant learning curve, and learning the stories related to the game will take even longer. One thing about this version, similar to other Virtua Fighter games, is that it is not exactly the easiest game to get into if you’ve never played before.
